Why Simplicity?

I find rivers to be fascinating.

They are, perhaps, the most beautiful example of entropy and chaos in our world. Following a river from its source to its delta can be tricky. Sometimes, they split and we give it a new name. Occasionally, the two branches will find their way back to each other. Most often, they don’t. But that’s just fine, isn’t it? We don’t yearn for the two to come back together. We take advantage of them as new opportunities. A new place to fish, a new place to picnic with the family, or simply a new beauty in the world to behold.

You can read more about it in my bio, if you’d like, but suffice it to say I have taken the less traditional route to becoming a financial advisor and planner. Life has thrown me my fair share of curve balls and that is why my second favorite saying is “Life is all about how you handle plan B.” Through a desert or a mountain the river will find a way. It may wind, narrow, or shallow in places but it does not stop, and through that innate perseverance the river becomes more firmly entrenched and comfortable in its new home. Yet, a 1,000 year old river still changes. It still shifts to accommodate other influences outside of its control.

While going through the some of the chaos that life has brought to my door, I started to focus on the things that could make a real impact on my life if things turned out right. Things that brought me joy - not short-term happiness but deep-in-your heart joy - were not necessarily what we were spending our money on every day. We decided it was time to change that.

This is our goal at Simplicity Financial Planning. We want to help people find that joy as early as possible. We want to help them live intentionally every single day. It does not need to take a life-altering event to start building those things into your life. I do not want you to spend your whole life working and saving for a beautiful retirement that may or may not come. Life happens. I want you to be responsible and make good choices for your future, but I want you to have some fun all the way to retirement, as well.

Even with all the chaos, my favorite saying, ‘Life is Good!.’
